Accu Weight-Loss “The Bead Diet” Yom Kippur Protocol Following are the guidelines for the Yom Kippur meals: Pre-Fasting Day / Dinner: ¨ Start the day at 12 noon with a Granny Smith (green) apple or ½ grapefruit. ¨ Only diet liquids until dinner. ¨ Drink a lot of water throughout the day. ¨ Dinner itself: 1 ½ lbs of vegetables and up to a total of 5 – 7 ounces of chicken, turkey or fish (please note that heavier proteins such as beef might give you an upset stomach so are to be avoided prior to fasting). ¨ If you normally have soup as part of your meal before fasting, have it after you have eaten the main meal rather than before. ¨ You will find your sense of satisfaction comes quickly. Listen to your body and stop eating when you feel satisfied. Paying attention will stop you from overeating – your old habits are still there but not if you say NO. Break Fast: ¨ You may break fast with whatever foods you normally use to break fast. o Limit ½ bagel o Eat slowly o Drink water ¨ You will find your sense of satisfaction comes quickly. Listen to your body and stop eating when you feel satisfied. Paying attention will stop you from overeating – your old habits are still there but not if you say NO. ¨ After the holiday, your first two days are milk / yogurt days, then two fruit / veggie days, etc. Our goal during the holiday is to maintain your weight; we are not concerned with weight loss during this time. We wish you an easy fast. |
