American Flag |  Vegetable Day

This all American fruit platter is the perfect touch for any patriotic celebration and just for fun. This recipe is brought to you by member Acc(u)Barbara.

Makes 3 servings - 3 skewers is 1 cup of your daily fruit allowance

Ingredients
  • 2 bananas
  • 7 large strawberries
  • 16 blueberries
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup water
Directions
  • In a medium bowl, mix lemon juice and water. Set aside.
  • Peel and slice bananas, 1/4” to 1/2” thick.
  • To prevent browning, dip the banana slices in the bowl of lemon juice, completely covering the bananas.
  • Wash strawberries and blueberries.
  • Cut off and discard tops of strawberries.
  • Cut strawberries in quarters.
  • Create skewers as follows:
    • 4 skewers – slide onto skewer 1 strawberry, 1 banana, 1 strawberry, 1 banana, 4 blueberries
    • 4 skewers – slide onto skewer 1 strawberry, 1 banana, 1 strawberry, 1 banana, 1 strawberry, 1 banana, 1 strawberry
  • Place skewers on serving platter aligning fruit "stripes".
