Pressure to CheatEmails below address questions from people having difficult times and responses from Dr Schwartz........ ************************ Hello Dr.
S. Thank you so much,... Joanne ************************ Dear Joanne, I think the first thing is to realize that what you describe is a reaction to something, not just "one of those things that happen." It's not that you're hungry or need something. It's a feeling, (becoming a thought) , that is demanding attention. It becomes a pressure and you deal with it out of habit (eating). This is something that happens to most of us. It could be almost any emotional issue or circumstance that acts as the trigger. What to do? 1. Accept that it will happen. 2. Decide NOW, what ACTION you will take when it occurs. 3. Prepare to act in the manner you've chosen. 4. There is to be no thinking... You have already determined your action... Do It. It can be anything you choose that you will follow. Drink water, climb stairs, go for a walk, start singing, write a letter, take a bath, tell your kids a story, watch TV with them, call a girlfriend, Do the Chi Gong breathing. If you are prepared it will go smoothly, but not necessarily easily. Give it 2 weeks and you will see how much easier it gets and how much better you feel. Dr. S.
